Big and small together

edn
In a recession where training and skills are going to become ever more important to E8 residents, the voice of small community and training agencies will now be heard along with larger organisations thanks to a new initiative by the Economic Development Network (EDN).
In November the EDN held an event called*’Big and small working together’ which gathered 40 people from small community-based trainers and larger providers like SERCO, all with the aim of securing money from the £500,000 ‘Ways to Work’ programme. The programme funds employment support for unemployed parents and other priority groups. Work by small organisations to help people get jobs is often overlooked by decision makers.

Crystal Todd, Co-ordinator for the EDN, said that the event was an excellent example of what partnership working could look like. Crystal went on to say, “That focus on delivery for the Hackney residents was the key to the day’s success.”
Providers of training or employment support are invited to contact Crystal on 020 7923 1962 or at crystal@hcvs.org.uk.
