Rents up – again
Hackney Council has raised rents by an average of 76 pence a week despite the recession. Hackney been increasing the costs for residents of housing estates even though many are home to the most deprived families in London. Residents on estates pay twice for the collection of their rubbish and street lighting (through Council tax and service charges) and therefore subsidise those who only pay Council Tax.
